Reading Truck Body reopens Reading, PA facility under new safety measures
Commonwealth designates Reading Truck Body an essential business supporting life-sustaining businesses
READING, PA. (April 8, 2020) – Reading Truck Group is pleased to announce that the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania has identified Reading an essential business that plays a critical role in the manufacture and supply of goods and services necessary to sustain life. This designation grants the truck body manufacturer a waiver of exemption that allows operations to resume at its manufacturing facility in Reading, Pennsylvania effective April 7, 2020. The facility had been under mandatory closure since March 20 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
First responders, utility and telecommunications providers and other life-sustaining businesses rely on the transportation equipment that Reading manufactures at its facility in Pennsylvania. This designation allows Reading to continue providing these businesses with equipment that enables them to carry out their essential functions during the unprecedented situation brought on by the pandemic.
As operations at the Reading facility resume, the health and safety of its employees are of the highest priority. In accordance with directives established by the Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control, Reading Truck will comply with social distancing and other mitigation measures designed to protect employees and the public. Those measures include restricted access to the facility, increased sanitation and cleaning, sanitation stations for employees, and new workplace policies to promote social distancing, among other steps. Reading Truck will continue to review its policies as new guidelines are issued by healthcare authorities.
